Company History
Safety Training Systems, Inc., a privately held Oklahoma corporation, was founded in 1978 to pursue commercial airline training device business. The emphasis at that time was placed on emergency evacuation, cabin service and aircraft system trainers.
In 1985, the market focus of the company was broadened to include the aggressive pursuit of U.S. military training device and mock-up business. At that time, STS developed and instituted the necessary systems and procedures for execution of military programs. These actions and related capabilities have enabled STS to properly manage military programs and enhanced the ability of the company to manage commercial programs.
In 1996, STS acquired the assets of the cabin training equipment portion of Thomson Training & Simulation, Inc. (TTSI). The acquisition of this well-established supplier, formerly known as Burtek, resulted in a larger organization with substantially greater capacity to serve the domestic and international airline community. The addition of several experienced management and technical individuals and the intellectual properties and engineering know-how involved in the acquisition placed STS in a much stronger position to serve the airline customer.
